Although she originally intended to work with youth, Susie was drawn to young children when she landed a co-op job in a toddler class at the University of Guelph’s Child Care and Learning Centre almost 20 years ago. Since then, she has worked in child care centers as an ECE, in community as a support worker, and most recently as a Supported Child Development Consultant in Duncan, BC. She has been involved in early intervention for over 10 years and found her passion here working alongside child care providers and families to provide inclusive learning and care environments for children of all abilities. This passion continued to evolve while she completed her Master’s in Education in ECE where she developed interests in alternative narratives to mainstream education and developmentalist discourses. She hopes to continue to explore these interests as an instructor at VIU.
